The Oyo State Government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, who along with her parents attacked teachers and students of the school.
The commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem who explained the reason behind her suspension expressed displeasure over the incident.
Abdu-Raheem vowed to take further action on the matter in due course.
oyoecho reports that the student in company of her mother during a Parents Teachers Association (PTA), meeting brought in hefty men to attacked a male student while some parents and teachers were injured.
The mayhem according to eyewitness was ignited by the mother of the girl, and other accomplices, thereby, causing tension in the school.
Reacting to the incident, the commissioner said the state government is taking further actions on the matter to ensure it serve as deterrent to other unguided parents and wards.
He emphasized that the present government has zero tolerance for impunity and misbehavior, urging students, parents and other stakeholders in education sector not to take advantage of the current administration in the state for granted.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Commissioner had earlier held a meeting with leaders of Sabo community over the assault, on Thursday 25th November , 2021 at the Conference Room of the Ministry
In the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner enjoined everyone to imbibe the spirit of peaceful coexistence, harmony and mutual respect, but however advised them to shun hasty generalization, perceived discrimination and aggression.
As fallout of the meeting, leaders of Hausa community in the Ibadan, the state capital at the meeting condemned the attack on the affected teachers and student, advising parents and students to imbibe peace and discipline for betterment of the state.
The commissioner and the stakeholders therefore advised the affected individuals to seek medical attention before reporting back in school.
