Why we arrested Bobrisky_NIS

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of celebrity crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border in Lagos.

According to the NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI Kenneth Udo, Bobrisky was intercepted on Monday while attempting to exit the country dressed as a woman. The service described him as a “person of interest” due to recent issues of public concern.

“Bobrisky was stopped by immigration officials at the departure wing of the command for clearance, but was immediately whisked away to the office of the Controller of Immigration, Abdullahi Adamu, for questioning,” a source revealed.

The arrest is reportedly connected to an ongoing House of Representatives investigation into bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The NIS assured that Bobrisky is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

However, the Controller of the Seme Command, Abdullahi Adamu, declined to comment on whether Bobrisky will be handed over to the EFCC or transferred to the Zonal office in Ikoyi.

Social media activist, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), announced the arrest on Instagram, sparking mixed reactions from the public.

The EFCC had previously arrested Bobrisky in April 2024 for allegedly spraying and flaunting new Naira notes at a movie premiere.
