UAE Donates Borehole, Mosque, Classrooms To Oyo Community
The United Arab Emirates has donated boreholes, classrooms and Mosques to Kishi, Irepo Local Government area of Oyo State through, Shariah Charity International and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Nigeria.
The projects which was donated to Ahlus-sunnah foundation, in Kishi area of Oyo State was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the embassy.
Chief imam of Kishi, Alhaji Solihudeen Busari Dambaba while speaking on the projects said the community has been suffering from lack of potable water and central mosque since the time immemorial, until EAU came to their rescue.
He noted that location of the borehole, mosque and school are very strategic because it would be useful for both Muslims and none Muslims.
Monarch in the town, Oba Moshood Lawal Aweda said not only the indegenes of Kishi are happy with the donation but the entire people of Irepo local government.
He noted that the UAE has brought, life, enlightenment and ultimately religious development to the community.
“We are grateful to the UAE for donating these laudable projects to our community. They have brought enlightenment, water which is life, as ultimately mosque o make us close to God. It is a message that with the global pandemic, it should be our resolution to get close to God.”
Speaking at the commissioning of the projects, the ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, Mr. Khalifa Al Mehrizi said the support was as a result of the global economy crisis, following the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: “This initiative is sponsored by Sharjah Charity International, a UAE-based Charity, that has sponsored numerous other borehole projects across various states in Nigeria. The UAE recognizes the many challenges faced with accessing clean water especially in rural communities, which is why we believe that providing easy access to clean and potable water for all is important.
“In addition to the borehole, the mosque and classrooms will provide a space for over 2,000 community members to worship, gain knowledge and contribute to societal development as the role of mosques as community centers remains pivotal. The classroom has also been equipped with learning facilities.
The UAE Embassy in Abuja is proud to support sectors such as education, water, community development and health. We remain committed to providing for those in need and hope that this project will continue to benefit the community members for many years to come.”
