Tribute to Late Dr. Omololu Olunloyo|Ojekunle Wasiu Olanrewaju
It is with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of our elder statesman, the erudite scholar, and astute leader, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo. His demise marks the end of an era—one defined by brilliance, dignity, and a profound commitment to public service.
Dr. Olunloyo is one of the illustrious personalities featured in my forthcoming publication, Who’s Who in Ibadan. I had earnestly hoped to sit with him, to hear his story from his own lips—to gather first-hand narratives that would enrich the documentation of our city’s most iconic figures. Unfortunately, that moment never came. While I was making plans to finally meet with him, fate struck a different chord.
This is a personal loss, not just for me, but for Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole. We have lost a repository of wisdom, a man who stood tall in intellect and governance, and who remained a symbol of Ibadan’s historical depth and enduring pride.
Though I never had the privilege of hearing his story directly, I remain committed to honoring his legacy in Who’s Who in Ibadan. His story will still be told—with reverence, accuracy, and heartfelt respect. It is the least we can do to preserve the memory of a man who gave so much to our state and our people.
May his soul find eternal rest, and may his contributions continue to inspire generations to come.
