A senior Nigeria Customs Service officer died on Tuesday after collapsing during a House of Representatives committee hearing. The officer, whose name and cause of death have not been disclosed, developed health complications around 1:00 pm on June 25, 2024, during a meeting with the House Committee.
Despite immediate medical attention from National Assembly Clinic personnel, the officer passed away.
The House of Representatives confirmed the incident in a statement, extending condolences to the officer’s family, friends, and colleagues.
“The House recognizes the officer’s contributions to the Nigeria Customs Service and the nation. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, expressed sadness over the loss of a dedicated public servant. The House is cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident and requests patience and privacy for the family during this time.” It said.
