RUSSIA DENIES INVOLVEMENT WITH NIGERIAN PROTESTERS WAVING HER FLAG

The Russian Embassy in Nigeria has issued a statement distancing itself from a group of protesters in northern Nigeria who were seen carrying Russian flags during recent demonstrations. The embassy emphasized that Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, including Nigeria, and that the protesters’ actions do not reflect any official Russian government policy or position.

The statement came amid concerns about external interference in regional affairs, following accusations of Russian involvement in political upheavals in several West African countries. The embassy reiterated Russia’s support for peaceful demonstrations but condemned any violent or disruptive behavior.

The protesters, mostly in northern states, were seen marching in the streets, carrying Russian flags and chanting slogans, while others held placards with various messages. However, the Russian Embassy stressed that the government and officials are not involved in these activities and do not coordinate them in any way.

The statement reaffirmed Russia’s respect for Nigerian democracy and its belief in peaceful demonstrations as a manifestation of democracy, while also warning against any disruptions or acts of violence.
