Reps Commited to Digital Transformation_Odidiomo

 

In a bid to align Nigeria’s legislative operations with global best practices, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology, and Cybersecurity, has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to adopting advanced digital solutions to enhance governance and improve legislative efficiency for the benefit of Nigerians.

 

Hon. Olajide, stated this, while speaking on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Huawei Technologies Co., to the national assembly.

 

Addressing the delegation, Hon. Olajide acknowledged Huawei’s extensive global expertise in digital solutions and ICT innovations.

 

He highlighted the importance of digital transformation in strengthening the country’s legislative processes and fostering transparency, and also emphasized the need to explore avenues for the digitalisation of House operations through the adoption of modern ICT infrastructure, while expressing confidence that the partnership would position the House of Representatives as a model for digital efficiency and accountability.”

 

“Our aim is to establish a robust digital ecosystem that will not only enhance legislative productivity but also improve citizen engagement through e-governance,” he stated.

 

While urging Huawei and other stakeholders to partner with the government in realising the objectives of the e-governance bill, Hon. Olajide further disclosed that the process of reviewing existing ICT policies in the National Assembly are being put in place, to ensure alignment with global best practices.

 

“The e-governance Bill is a crucial step in this direction, and we welcome Huawei’s technical input to ensure its success.”

 

Earlier, the Huawei Technologies delegation had pledged the it’s support in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, noting that the company has successfully implemented similar projects across Africa and is keen on bringing it’s expertise to the Nigerian legislative process which is believed, will set a benchmark for other government institutions in the country.
