Al Kaffi Institute of Qur’an Memorization and Islamic Education has preached the need to make Islamic culture, ethics and morals a constant in the lives of muslims whether during or after the fasting month of Ramadhan.
The mudir of the institute, Sheikh Nozir Kaffi made this admonition during the second annual ramadhan lecture which held at the madrassah during the weekend.
In the lecture titled ‘Worship And Behaviors During & After Ramadhan’, the Sheikh noted that the recommended worship, behaviors and ethics in the holy month of Ramadhan are not forbidden after the month.
Quoting copiously from the Qur’an and hadith, the Sheikh narrated how the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would busy himself with worship and enviable manners and behaviours even when it is not the season of Ramadhan.
According to him, fornication, alcohol use, backbiting, extortion, abuse of office and other vices are prohibited at all times, either within or outside the holy month.
“This is a holy month in which Allah opens doors to prayers and worship. Anyone who takes advantage of the blessing of the month has profited.
“The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not preach piety, good behaviors and steadfastness only during ramadhan. He only encouraged us to increase in these aspects our lives during Ramadan so as to secure a extra rewards, spiritual upliftment and goodness.
” After ramadhan, we should keep up the tempo. We should not neglect our five daily prayers which we had strictly adhered to during ramadhan, we should continue with alms giving and philanthropy. Philanthropy should not be limited to ramadhan alone. You see people bringing gifts to imams during ramadhan but neglect them as soon as ramadhan is over. This is not appropriate. We must endeavor to be a blessing to the needy, be good to our neighbors and all.”
“Islam wants us to keep up good behaviors and steadfastness either during or after ramadhan. This is the lesson we have learnt from the sunnah of the prophet as well as those of his companions.” He concluded.
Earlier during his opening remarks and prayer, the chief host of the event who is also the Chief Imam of Igboko Central Mosque, Lusada, Sheikh Imran Tahir Sulaimon (Baba n Gboko) lauded the efforts of the institute in the spiritual training amd enlightenment of the over 100 students.
“I am happy and pleased to be associated with this institute. This is light and I always love to associate with light. Someone once said that it is barely one year that the institute was established, yet the number of students are increasing rapidly. I replied him that this is just the beginning. Greater feats and greatness would be experienced in this institute in no time.
“My own child used to be a student here before she proceeded to the higher institution. This is a beneficial enterprise and I encourage all to invest in it by enrolling their children.
“My prayer is that before next year ramadhan, this mosque should be more grand and raised to a more befitting archeological stature. It is my dream to see growth in this mosque as well as the institute.” He said.
Also, Sheikh Muhammad Sa’eed Odunsi who delivered a commentary on the lecture expressed satisfaction with the level of development and achievements recorded by the institute. He prayed for continued guidance, upliftment and resources in the promotion of the madrassah’s course.
