Oyo Solar Revolution: Ajia, 25 Others Bid Farewell to Darkness

Ajia Town and 25 other rural communities in Oyo State has been illuminated with solar hybrid mini grids, thanks to a partnership between the state government and private investors.

Ajia Town, which had been in darkness for decades, can now access reliable electricity, transforming the lives of its residents. The solar hybrid mini grid, constructed by the Seyi Makinde administration, combines solar and diesel power to provide a sustainable source of energy.

The project has had a profound impact on the community, improving socio-economic well-being, boosting businesses, and creating jobs for residents. The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Energy, provided infrastructure support and funding for the project, demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy.

Commissioner for Energy Seun Ashamu praised the partnership with renowned renewable energy experts, which has led to similar projects in 26 other rural communities across the state. Residents of Ajia Town are thrilled about their new access to electricity, expressing hope for a brighter future.

This solar revolution in Oyo State showcases the potential of renewable energy to transform lives, even in rural communities. Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has made renewable energy a priority, and this project is a testament to that commitment.
