Oyo: Police crack down on criminals, recovers ₦16m, cars, ammunition (pictures)

In a significant blow to criminal activity in Oyo State, the Police Command has recovered ₦16 million, cars, guns, and other ammunition from 41 suspected criminals paraded on Friday.

 

The suspects were allegedly involved in various criminal activities, including cattle rustling, kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, gun-running, and murder.

 

Commissioner of Police, CP Sonubi Ayodele, declared war on crime in the state, stating that Oyo has no room for criminal-minded individuals and their activities.

 

Among the suspects was Mahmood Musa Kala, who confessed to killing a young man over a business dispute. Exhibits recovered from Kala included a cutlass, jack knife, and the victim’s clothes.

 

Another gang of armed robbery syndicates specialized in gun-running and car snatching was also paraded. The police recovered 1,346 pieces of live AK-47 rifle ammunition, a Toyota Corolla car, and ₦16 million.

The police urge anyone with information on criminal activities to come forward and assist in the fight against crime.
