One year after, family calls on FG for support as late national flag designer set to be buried

The family of Late Taiwo Akinkunmi who designed the Nigerian national flag have announced the burial rites for the patriot who passed away on August 29, 2023.

The family expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, NGOs and others for their support during the mourning period.

According to a son of the deceased, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, the burial program is scheduled for September 4-6, 2024, and the venue is Harmony Estate, Akala Express Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The family hopes for further support from the Federal Government and requests that the Nigerian Flag be flown at half-mast during the burial period to honor Pa Akinkunmi’s legacy.

“We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Hon Idris Mohammed, to pay condolence to the family when the incident happened.” He said.

While stating that it was still hopeful of hearing from the Federal Government as regards its promises in respect of the burial, the family specifically requests that the Nigerian Flag be flown at half mast to give the departed Pa Akinkunmi his last respects during the burial period.

“It would be much appreciated if the Nigerian Flag can be flown at half mast to give Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi this last respect,” he said.
