OLUBADAN APPOINTS VETERAN JOURNALIST AS CHIEF PRESS SECRETARY
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Ige Olakunlehin 1, has appointed Olugbemiga Solomon Ayoade, a seasoned journalist and former chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), as his Chief Press Secretary.
Ayoade’s appointment was announced in a letter dated August 29, 2024, signed by Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin on behalf of the monarch. The new Chief Press Secretary is a native of Ibadan and holds a diploma in Mass Communication from Ibadan Polytechnic, as well as degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Ibadan.
Ayoade, who retired as Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilization in the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, has had a distinguished career in journalism. He has held various leadership positions in the NUJ, including Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter. He also served on a national committee on insurance policy for journalists.
In his new role, Oba Olakulehin Ige 1 has charged Ayoade to promote the unity and progress of Ibadan land. The appointment is seen as a strategic move to leverage Ayoade’s expertise in journalism and communication to enhance the image and reputation of the Olubadan Palace.
