Friends and associates of the late former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State, to celebrate his 68th posthumous birthday. The event, organized by the ‘Friends of Aketi’ (FoA), featured a book launch titled ‘The Essential Aketi’, which chronicled the late Governor’s life and legacy.
Dignitaries in attendance included Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Fola Ouekunle, First female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Folake Solanke, and several traditional rulers.
In their tributes, speakers described the late Governor Akeredolu as a courageous and forthright leader who fought for justice, equity, and the rights of the downtrodden. Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Mr. Olaide Adelami, praised the late Governor’s achievements in infrastructural development, educational development, and security architecture.
The book launch was performed by Oba Adewale Osiberu, the Elepe of Epe, Sagamu, who noted that the book would serve as a reminder of the late Governor’s enduring legacy. The event was also attended by the late Governor’s family, including his wife, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, and children.
The celebration was a testament to the late Governor Akeredolu’s impact on the people of Ondo State and the Southwest region, and his legacy continues to inspire and motivate others.
