Ibadan Residents Protest Blackout During Christmas, New Year, Threaten To Mobilise 5,000 Youths For Protest
Residents of Kufeyijin, America Quarters and Iwo-road area of Ibadan, Ibadan North East area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital have expressed their displeasure over power outage during the Christmas and new year celebration.
They urged the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to restore their power supply in the next 12 hours to avoid mass protest.
The youth leader of the areas, Yinka Gbadeyanka who made the displeasure know in a statement on Friday said residents of the areas have endured so much power failure in the recent times.
The statement reads; “this is unfortunate development in the recent time. Despite prompt payment of bills, IBEDC have taken our light for more than two weeks now. We did not have the opportunity to use light for Christmas and even new year.
“We are calling on the official of the IBEDC to restore our light in less than 12 hours to avoid mass protest. We are capable of mobilising 5,000 youths to your capital house building, Ring road for a mass protest.
