Ibadan Chiefs Get Promotion On Balogun Line

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin Ige Olakulehin 1, has elevated six high-ranking chiefs in the Balogun chieftaincy line. The ceremony, held at the Olubadan’s palace, saw the chiefs move up the ranks in a traditional promotion ritual.

Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola is now the Balogun of Ibadanland, up from Otun Balogun, while Oba Kolawole Adegbola takes his place as Otun Balogun. Oba John Olubunmi Isioye-Dada has become the Osi Balogun, previously holding the title of Ekerin Balogun.

Other promotions include Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez to Asipa Balogun, Senior Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin to Ekerin Balogun, and Senior Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli to Ekarun Balogun.

The Oluwo of Ibadanland performed the traditional rites, and the chiefs received Akoko leaves to mark their new status. The event was attended by prominent figures in Ibadanland’s traditional governance.
