I don’t mind having Adelabu as my running mate else, APC’ll lose says Barr. Shittu
The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has urged the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomolhe and other leaders of the party to reconsider substituting his name with the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Oyo state, Chief Adebayo Adelabu for electoral victory for the party in next year elections.
Shittu said anything short of that will spell doom for the party in next year election in Oyo State.
He insisted that he was the only credible aspirant who can deliver the state for the party in 2019.
Shittu who spoke with oyoecho33 on telephone interview said the party must consider justice and restitution before talking of reconciliation.
The Minister who condemned in strong terms the impunity and imposition in the ruling party said the party is not doing things differently from the people’s Democratic Party which was responsible for its Waterloo in 2015.
Despite the crisis in the party, the Minister believes the crisis could be resolved but the right thing must be done.
According to him, the only thing he needed from the committee is restitution and justice, then reconsilation will follow.
He said “it is painful that everybody talks of peace without talking about justice.”
Shittu noted that if truly the party was ready for reconsilation, whatever injustice and impunity that must have been done against members of the party must be addressed.
He warned the leadership of the party never to follow the path of the PDP which led to its political waterloo.
Shittu advocated for Justice ” Before you talk of reconsilation, let there be restitution. After restitution, then we can talk of true reconciliation. We all condemned PDP for their injustice and impunity, why are we not doing things differently if truly we are progressives. What I mean by restitution is for the leadership of the party to return the ticket to me and make my very good brother, Adelabu as my timing mate.”
On the success of the reconciliation committee in the Southwest, Shittu said he was confident that the committee led by the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima would record a tremendous success.
