Ex-Ibadan Basketball Players In Diaspora To Hold Championship In Ibadan, Place N500,000 Prize On Winer
The Ibadan Basketball Championship which comprises of ex-basketball players in Diaspora has organised second edition of Championship tournament in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
The event slated for January 6th and 7th and codenamed “Ballers in Diaspora” is expected to bring together kids and adults playing basketball in Ibadan.
A statement signed by Durojaiye Shoola on behalf of Ibadan Ballers in Diaspora indicates that winner of the tournament would go home with N500,000 prize.
According to the statement, “We held the maiden edition in January 2022 and we are back again with the Second edition which is coming up on the 6th and 7th of January at Adamasingba Stadium Ibadan.”
The statement further said; “all came together to support the development of the game of basketball in Ibadan.
“This act of giving back is a selfless service to God and humanity fueled by the passion we all have for the game of basketball.
“This beautiful game brought all of us together and we were all once kids playing basketball in Ibadan,we understand some of the challenges we faced which includes lack of basketball Championships to improve our game back in the days.
“The government alone can’t make it happen which makes us come together under the umbrella of Ibadan Ballers in Diaspora.We held the maiden edition in January 2022 and we are back again with the Second edition which is coming up on the 6th and 7th of January at Adamasingba Stadium Ibadan.
“Male and Female teams within Ibadan will compete for the cash prize of N500,000.
“Ibadan Basketball Championship is an annual event powered by Ibadan Ballers in Diaspora.”
