Former Presidential aspirant and chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bashorun Dele Momodu, has reacted to the introduction of the 0.5 percent cybersecurity levy on all banking transactions in the country, saying it was as a result of the present administration’s inability to reason out of the box.
The PDP chieftain said there was no need for such levy at this time as Nigerians are already over levied, asking the government to look for other means to generate revenue instead of imposing unnecessary hardship on the people.
Momodu who expressed these views while featuring as a guest on

current affairs programme, ‘Frontline’ on Wednesday, said the government should rather address the numerous wastages and misplaced priority in governance on Nigeria, instead of burdening the people with more hardship.
Anchored by Olakunle Balogun, Head of Station, Momodu in the interview said the present administration since inception has not shown any sensitivity to the plight of Nigerians, stating that instead of forcing hardship on Nigeria with the removal of fuel subsidy, the government should rather be intentional in the fight against corruption that has become prevalence in the current administration, particularly in the downstream sector.
He raised concern that the fight against corruption in the current dispensation is cosmetic as the EFCC has been handicapped and rendered a toothless dog.
Speaking on the crisis rocking the administration of Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, Momodu said the threat of impeachment on the Governor by members of the state House of Assembly loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike will be a slap and huge disrespect on President Bola Tinubu who had initially brokered a peace pact between the warring parties in the state.
He accused the former Governor of going against the agreement contained in the pact by continuing to foment troubles in the state unhindered, saying that Wike has to be reined in by the President for him to face his new assignment and leave Rivers to Fubara to govern.
He alleged that Nyesom WIke is being sponsored by the government at the centre to destroy PDP in Rivers state.
