...GMD's men beat, arrest, court bailiffs
The embattled Group Managing Director of Odua Investment company Limited, Mr. Adewale Raji and two other officials of the company have been summoned by the National Industrial court of Nigeria for contempt of Court.
This was contained on the order of the court signed by Justice J. Peters of National Industrial court Ibadan Division.
oyoecho.com gathered that the development was in response to an action filed by a claimant, Mr. Abiodun Adedeji a top management staff of the company against embattled GMD on oppression, discrimination and misrepresentation of facts to the Board of the company.
According to our source, the trouble started in September when a bailiff of the court attempted to serve the company secretary but the security attached to the GMD, Mr. Adewale Raji attacked the two bailiffs and tore their shirts.
The bailiff then went back two days later but prevented from gaining enterance the elevator to 23 floor where the office of the Company Secretary and GMD were.
According to the source, the bailiffs were directed to drop the letter to the security at the entrance of cocoa house which was dropped at the security gate.
The GMD, officials of the company and their counsels were said to have refused to appear when the case was mentioned at the court.
The presiding judge thereafter ordered the GMD, the Company Secretary and the Head of Human Resources to appear on Wednesday in person for contempt of court.
The bailiff was again to deliver the court process last week Wednesday when again the bailiff was beaten up, arreted and handed over to CID headquarters, Iyanganku Ibadan.
oyoecho.com gathered that the bailiff was released immediately and the court papers were left at Odua despite intimidation and harassment by the police attached to the GMD, Odua, Mr. Adewale Raji.
The court ordered for the contempt was conspicuously pasted at the company premises last week Thursday.
Reacting to the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Odua Investment, Victor Ayetoro told oyoecho.com that the lawyer of the investments has been detailed to approah the court on Wednesday, but however declined to give further information on the crisis.
