APC Accused of Deceiving Over 400 Women with False Promises of Palliatives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been embroiled in a scandal after allegedly deceiving over 400 women with promises of palliatives in exchange for their participation in a counter-protest against the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration.

According to SaharaReporters, influential APC women leaders sent a circular to various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Abuja, requesting them to mobilize 50 women each to Eagle Square, where they would receive 50kg bags of rice as palliatives. However, upon arrival, the women were given banners with the slogan “Say No To Protest” and were photographed, only to be left without the promised rice or transportation fare.

Esther Adelana, a member of the African Youth Union Commission, expressed outrage over the incident, stating, “Believe this leadership at your own risk.” She revealed that the women were misled into participating in a propaganda stunt, with some even being threatened by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many criticizing the APC for exploiting vulnerable women for political gain. The party has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
