Residents protest invasion of land grabbers in Ibadan
Some residents in Lagelu and Egbeda local governments areas of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital have called on the inspector general of police and the Oyo state government to rescue them from some land grabbers who invaded the areas.
They alleged one Ayandioro Salam of involving in using illegal land acquisition to drive them from their respective communities in the ancient city.
The protesters from the local Government have stormed the resident of Ayandioro to protest their displeasure over the development in their communities.
In their placards were inscriptions like “Ayandioro the oppressor” and “Ayandioro free our Land.”
According to the spokesperson of the families, Mr. Niniola Kazeem land involved is about 100 hectares, which cut across the two local government.
He said; we won’t relent to ask for our right. At a point, we were chased away from our Land by gunmen which is barbaric and unthinkable,” he said.
One of the family members who simply identified herself as Kunle said; “we were almost killed by hoodlums.”
An activist, Ayinla Bajulaye said he decided to take up the case because he was aware that the landed property belongs to his forefathers saying; “we cannot continue to die in silence.”
