Oyo State government has again shut down six health facilities in the state for engaging in unethical health delivery services.
The facilities affected by the closures are; New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic & Maternity, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre Ogbere, Safeway Clinic Gbaremu, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre, all situated in Ibadan.
The facilities faced closure for a range of offenses, including employing unqualified staff to provide medical services and participating in activities that violate health regulations.
Dr. Adekunle Aremu, the Chairman of the State Antiquackery Task Force Committee, led an inspection and monitoring exercise in the Ibadan metropolis that resulted in the closure of these health facilities. He emphasized that the government’s actions were aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of the state’s residents.
Dr. Aremu reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance towards quackery and substandard practices in the health sector, warning that those found guilty would be dealt with according to the law. To maintain accountability, he encouraged the public to report any suspicious or unlawful activities in healthcare establishments to the Ministry of Health or the relevant security agencies.
Emphasizing the importance of seeking medical assistance from accredited and licensed health facilities with qualified staff, Dr. Aremu called on healthcare workers to uphold the highest ethical standards. He also urged residents to support the government’s efforts in delivering quality and affordable healthcare services to the populace.
Ultimately, the government’s primary objective is to ensure that healthcare services in Oyo State consistently meet stringent standards for quality and safety. By enforcing these measures, authorities aim to build trust among citizens regarding their well-being.
