Based on contributions to community development and advocacy for an efficiently functioning local government system in Oyo State, the duo of Eni Iyi Ojekunle Wasiu and Abiodun Adewole (Mr. Double A) have been inducted as Members, Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration.
Eni Iyi Ojekunle Wasiu is the President; Ibadan Youths Indigene who over the years has worked and spoken fervently on LG autonomy, grassroot development and democratic governance.
Mr Double A is an ace broadcaster who works with Splash FM and has been Honoured in recognition of his contributions to community development and advocacy for an efficiently functioning local government system through ‘Ijoba-Ibile’ programme and other means.
The event took place on Friday at the Assembly Hall of The Polytechnic Ibadan by the said institute.
Prominent personalities who were also inducted included Engr. Akeem Olatunji, Kolawole Kazeem Oorelope, Mr. Ogunjimi, local government chairmen from Ondo state amongst others.
The awardees appreciated the Registrar Dr. Uche Okereke who coordinated the program and Dr. Oyekunle Oyewo, HOD, Department of Public Administration, the Polytechnic Ibadan for his immense support and contribution to the development.
The Register during his opening remarks highlighted the low levels of development throughout the 774 LGAs in Nigeria saying that the situation is hinged on lack of coordination and human materials resources in LGAs and among local officials and political office holders.
He therefore used the avenue to call on all to rise up from slumber and support grassroot development in all ramification.
Eni Iyi Ojekunle Wasiu promised to continue to add his voice to the agitation for LG autonomy because it is the route to accelerated development. He also beckoned on youths in the country to venture into active politics and never consider governance as an affair for the aged only.
