NUJ Felicitates 10th Assembly, Commends Makinde
Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has congratulated the new lawmakers for the 10th Assembly, both at the national and state levels, charging them to ensure the fulfilment of the promises they made to their constituents.
Oyo State Council of NUJ made he congratulatory remark during its monthly congress on Monday June 12, 2023, at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The congress presided over by the State Chairman of the union, Comrade Ademola Babalola asserted that unkempt promise is a debt on the part of the maker of the promise.
The NUJ also said it would constantly monitor and report activities of these functionaries with a view of beaming searchlights on them for the electorate to be guided in future elections
Also, the union lauded the effort of Governor Seyi Makinde on the re-organisation of Park Management System (PMS), by bringing all the factions in the transport unions together.
Describing the action as an unprecedented achievement in the history of transport unions in the state, the union, charged the PMS leaders and members to work in unity for the peace of the state.
The union also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for appointing one of her members, Comrade Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Group Business Editor of The Nigerian Tribune as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), and further solicited more appointments for journalists in the state into the present administration.
Also, the union commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts in approving, awarding, mobilisation, and flag off of the 8.3-kilometre dualisation of Akobo Ojurin/Odogbo Barracks to Olorunda Abaa Junction, which is the third and last phase of dualisation of Idi Ape-Bashorun-Akobo-Olorunda Abaa Road in Ibadan.
“It is a big relief to thousands of Ibadan residents, especially vehicle owners, who had been traumatised with deplorable road for a long time.” They noted.
