The Oyo State Chapter of the Accord Party (AP) on Thursday said the leadership of the party is ready to welcome back a former governor of the the state and former leader of the party in the state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja.
The party however said the former governor must follow a due process to return to the party.
The National Secretary of the party, Abiola Ajaja who disclosed this in Ibadan on Thursday sad the party will ensure free, fair and credible primaries for all it’s members.
According to her, she was aware that Ladoja has been romancing people underground that he wanted to come back to Accord Party.
She said the door of the party is widely opened for anyone who has interest to join the party.
Ajaja said; “We have been engaging and wooing people to the party. We have Presidential aspirants, Gubernatorial aspirants and aspirants for other elective posts. Infact, I was in Osun last week for the Primary Election of Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi. I don’t want to mention names now because so many people are still coming to join us. I was told that Ogunbiyi is a popular candidate and I believe he is going to win.
“I broke up as one of the loyalists of Baba Ladoja in 2015 when he denied me of the returning ticket which was recommended for me from the National. The recommendation came from the National because of my performances in office as I did so well. I was denied the ticket because of the best reason known to him, he gave the ticket to the person I defeated in 2011, which was Gbenga Adewuyi popularly known as Arole. I was forced to take him to court because I know what the party Constitution says. Before anybody can grab the ticket for any post, he/she must must be a member for at least one year. I have all the documents for my recommendation. I felt it was a slap, that was why I took him to the court. He is not God, he also took Baba Adedibu to court and that was why I took him to court.
“The number of candidates would determine whether we are going to go for consensus or Primary Election is going to hold. Remember, INEC stated it that we must do everything democratically.
“The two major parties have failed Nigerians, Accord Party has everything it takes to fill the vacuum and turn the tide of things around for better than what we are witnessing now. We have so many party members that are willing and ready to turn things around for better. Those that are in the so called big parties are more than comfortable, so selfish and careless about the masses.
“Our former leader, Senator Ladoja dumped Accord Party in 2015 for PDP and later crossed to ADC before going to ZLP. When he was leaving Accord Party, he stated emphatically that the people would not hear about the name of the party again in Oyo State but to the glory of God, he has been proved wrong. He has been romancing people underground that he wants to come back to Accord Party.
“If anyone wants to join the party, our door is widely opened. We are ready to take Senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja back, but he must follow the due process.”
