4 killed, Properties Destroyed as Hoodlums Clash With Amotekun in Ibadan
No fewer than five people have been reportedly killed in Friday midnight clash between hoodlums and men of the Oyo state security network popularly called Amotekun at Labiran area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Labiran, a community in Ibadan has been engulfed in crisis in the last few days.
Oyoechonews learnt that over 200 houses were razed on Thursday while a young man was killed by hoodlums in the area.
Our Correspondent gathered that youths in the area were embarking on vigil when the hoodlums invaded the area, looting shops and attacking residents.
A source in the area told oyoechonews that when youths notice their arrival, men of Amotekun were invited which led to gun battle.
A youth who was among the youths keeping vigil, simply identified himself as Wale said following burning and looting of properties in the area, elders in the community invited youth to embark on vigil.
“It is true, they killed four among our friends. Their families have taken them for burial this morning. Some of our fathers invited us to keep vigil. When we heard information that those miscrants were coming, one of our brothers invited Amotekun and on arrival, they just started shooting sporadically while hoodlums were also shooting. As a result, Monsuru, Ridwan and two other people were killed.
“They have taken their corpses for burial. Those hoodlums later came back to our area around 5am after they heard that Amotekun had killed us and they loot many shops.”
“As we speak, they are burning houses again. Smoke is everywhere. Many have fled our area now. We need help,” he said.
